Is someone stalking you on Facebook? Is it your family, keeping an eye on what you post, a colleague watching all your updates in one go, or is it your ex? And this is giving you nightmares. What would your reaction be if we told you that you could actually find out who is stalking your Facebook profile of yours? That, too, in easy steps. Read this till the end to find out how!
We all use Facebook, and even if we do not, we have an account there to keep an update on friends, family, colleagues, and acquaintances.
Within the privacy settings of its main app, Facebook now allows iOS users to see who has visited their profile. If you have an iOS device, all you have to do is go to Privacy Shortcuts and pick the “Who viewed my profile” option.
As of now, this option is only available in the iOS Facebook app. However, the method does not tell you the time and date when your Facebook friend visited your profile. While iOS users can check who has visited their Facebook profile using the Privacy Settings, other users can do so by visiting the official website of Facebook on their desktop. Today, we will show you both methods for determining who has viewed your Facebook timeline.

Note: Upon trying it, we got to know that this feature is sometimes user-specific and might not work in many cases.
But, don’t worry! We have got a fix for that. Method 2 works for everyone and is not user-specific.
Method 2: How to find out who is stalking Facebook using a browser?
This method works best on a desktop. We will guide you through a step-by-step process to find out who is stalking Facebook account.
Step 1: Go to www.facebook.com and log in with your username and password.
Step 2: Upon logging in, right-click anywhere on the screen and click on “View Page Source” or “Ctrl+U” (if you are using the Chrome Browser). This will open the source for Facebook Home Page.
Step 3: Now, using the Find option in the three-dot menu or Ctrl+F, find “BUDDY_ID“.
Step 4: Right next to the “BUDDY_ID” tag, you will find a 15 digit number. Copy that using Ctrl+C.
Step 5: This 15-digit number is the profile ID of each Facebook friend who has visited your profile. Copy the 15-digit profile ID, open a new tab, and type www.facebook.com/profile ID (15-digit code), then hit enter.
And, BOOOOM! You will land on their Facebook profile.
Additionally, do keep yourself safe from Facebook hackers by following safe passwords and a two-factor authentication policy.
Was it your ex keeping an eye on what you posted?
We hope that you have gotten access to their profile now and found out who they were!
Extra Tip: If you can’t access the profile, after visiting www.facebook.com/profile ID (15-digit code), login to another account and copy-paste the same link using Ctrl+V and you will land on their profile.
How can I stop becoming a victim of stalking Facebook?
We would like our readers to play safe when it comes to getting victimised by stalking on Facebook. There are a few safe do’s and dont’s that can help to fend against Facebook stalking. If you have an iota of doubt, as a damage control measure, it is advisable to deactivate your Facebook account till the matter gets sorted out. These are standard practices to be safe on social media.
Block the stalker
As soon as you get the slightest hint of getting stalked, it is advised to unfriend and then block the profile. This option will help in damage control and the stalker will be barred from visiting your profile and timeline. Your Facebook profile will not show in the search results. Most important is that your action of blocking will not be notified by FB.
File a Complaint
Inspite of repeated reminders, stalking on Facebook becomes more like bullying or harassment, you can consider the option to report the account to Facebook. Report the person or any abusive things they post as it goes against the Community Standards.
Use the “Restricted” Privacy Settings option
If you don’t want to raise a complaint, Facebook facilitates adding such stalkers to your restricted list. This feature doesn’t allow them to keep a watch on you unless you make your posts public.
In case you don’t know how you can add anyone to the Restricted list, navigate to his profile. Select the option Friends as sown below. Navigate to “Add to another list…”, and then select Restricted.
Keep Personal Data Private
If you cannot handle stalkers it is advised to not make your personal data or even plans public. This includes the below
- Maiden name
- Contact information
- Any information about family members
- Photos of family members
- Vacation plans
